Here were some of the standout performers from the class of 2027 om Saturday!
Darrell Davis: Fidonce, Baltimore- Davis was electric as he was pushing the tempo for Fidonce in both games. The 5’6 guard has a tight handle as he was able to slither his way to the rim and draw contact. Davis was more than just a driver as he knocked down numerous triples with a couple of them being a few feet behind the arc. He shot the ball with confidence and has a quick release. Davis has the makings of a good high school point guard with his combination of quickness, shooting and handle.
Carlos Ferguson: Fidonce, Baltimore- Ferguson had a solid showing at the A-Game Fall Shootout as he showed off his versatile skillset. The 5’9 lefty has a nice mid-range game and does not seem to get rattled by pressure. Ferguson’s energy level was impressive as he was on the floor for 50-50 balls and took very few plays off on the defensive end. He got numerous deflections on defense, which his team was able to convert into points. Ferguson’s smooth offensive game combined with his defensive activity makes him a candidate to play significant minutes early in his high school career.
Corey Francis: WER1, Philadelphia- The WER1 offense was running effectively in both games and Francis was a big reason why. The 5’7 lead guard has great floor vision as he threaded a 30-foot one-handed bounce pass between a pair of defenders. Francis played with poise on the ball and very rarely made poor decisions with the ball in his hands. He was able to beat his defender off the bounce and made tough layups around the rim. Francis’ floor vision puts him in a good position to run a high school offense in the next 3-4 years.
Shemari Jackson: Westchester Athletics, Yonkers, NY- Jackson was a force down low for Westchester as teams had trouble stopping him. The 6’0 forward was able to finish through contact with consistency and has a nice touch around the basket. Jackson was aggressive on the glass at both ends as he ripped down almost every rebound he went for. He knew how to play in the middle of a press as he did not have many wayward passes. Jackson is a tough New York forward who plays with energy in every single game.
Zion Redic: WER1, Philadelphia- Redic was a key part of WER1’s success on the opening day as he affected in multiple ways. The 6’1 wing finished strong around the basket and knew how to draw contact. Redic ran the floor hard on both ends and played with extremely active hands on defense. He showed off his defensive versatility by going out and defending on the perimeter, along with solid interior play. Redic’s all-around skillset is something that will be useful for him when he gets to the next level.
