is one of the most talked-about competitors in the state, despite him being an 8th grader.
Coach Rowe was eager to praise Davidson’s on-court attributes as “super athletic, really quick, and a flat-out competitor in between the lines.” He raved about the young man’s playmaking ability and potential, but spoke most convincingly about the intangibles Davidson brings.
In the face of adversity, Darrin will not break.
Davidson keeps his foot on the gas, regardless of the score. Up 20 or down 20, he stays in attack mode, Rowe added.
Although he’s made strides in recent years, two things have hindered Davidson’s rise: His outside shooting and ability to play the point.
Coach Rowe stressed that the time Davidson has invested into his jump shot has started to pay dividends. However, he felt that the transition to point guard has taken more time. Davidson has already passed both his mother and father in height, and Coach Rowe sees this transition as a way to ensure that Davidson is nowhere near his peak as a player.
That question is can Darrin make the transition to playing the point guard spot. Coach Rowe feels that Darrin can easily be a high 3-star player if he makes the transition, and coming from a coach that has been in the game coaching for over 30 years, Darrin has a solid future ahead of him if the jump can be made.
