Dallas, Tx — 2021 Season Premiere, presented by Jermaine O’Neal and Coast2Coast Preps, was a talent-filled event with the best middle school teams and players from all over the country. This tournament gave me the opportunity to see the next wave of ballers that will be taking over the high school basketball scene in the next few years. The 2021 Season Premiere consisted of every type of prospect, lights-out shooters, true big men, lockdown defenders, athletic freaks, and highly skilled guards. These 8th-graders stood out and were some of the most outstanding players in the entire gym, game in and game out. Let’s take a look at the top performers in the Class of 2025.

Jacobe Coleman | Carrolton, Tx | Class of 2025

Coleman is an insanely athletic and highly skilled combo-guard with some serious bounce, he even showed off his dunking skills during warm-ups. Jacobe showed and proved that he could contribute in more ways than one, displaying the ability to do it all at a higher level than his competition, rebound, score, defend, and facilitate. An outstanding rebounder for a guard, Jacobe led his team in boards with his relentless nature on the defensive glass. The Proskills guard was also a phenomenal slasher. Coleman exhibited lethal blow-by speed that got him to the rack so easy and often that it seemed like a layup drill. His speed and quickness went unmatched and looked uncontainable. Great control of his quickness with the ball in hand, using his first-step, spin, and hesitation moves effectively to get inside or to his spots. When driving the lane, he’s a strong finisher at the basket that’s not phased by contact or bigger defenders. One of Jacobe Coleman’s most impressive traits was his court vision, for someone that looked as if they could score anytime they wanted to, he was extremely unselfish, and knew how to pick his spots and get his buckets within the flow of the offense. Coleman put on a great defensive performance as well, he gave top-notch effort on each and every play despite the score on the board. A very alert defender with good anticipation that made him dangerous in the passing lanes, and quick choppy feet that allowed him to stay in front of his man. Coleman’s motor was tremendous, there were multiple occasions where he hustled back, beat everyone up the court, got in front of the ball handler, and sent their shot the other way, saving his team from giving up 2 points on the fast break. I loved how he was never the last player up the floor. Jacobe Coleman showed a lot of promise and will become a name to keep track of as he continues to grow physically and improve on his talents.

Parker Jefferson Parker Jefferson Parker Jefferson 6'8" | C TX | Waxahachie, Tx | Class of 2025

Parker Jefferson Parker Jefferson Parker Jefferson 6'8" | C TX  dominated some of the nation’s best teams. This workhorse did it all for his squad, protecting the rim, crashing the boards at a high rate, scoring, and even finding open teammates cutting through the lane or out beyond the arc. This 6-foot-8 postman is a heavily skilled big with high-level post moves and abilities. Jefferson overpowered his opponents in the paint on offense, he did a great job of using his enormous size to create the space needed to get off his shot. Parker showed a nice soft touch around the basket, along with the ability to turn or spin over either shoulder and shoot. Good shooting mechanics and solid athleticism, very agile for someone of his stature, can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket as well. Parker Jefferson Parker Jefferson Parker Jefferson 6'8" | C TX worked his tail off out there and left it all on the court, he looked exhausted and worn out but it never showed in his game, and he didn’t quit or back down one bit, the young man gave an unbelievable effort till the very end. Next season, Jefferson will be adding more depth to a Waxahachie High School roster that has contained elite players for the past few years.

Silas Rodriguez | Denton, Tx | Class of 2025

This 6-foot sharpshooter’s scoring was a problem for every team he faced. Silas played with great focus and concentration every time he had the ball in his hands. He showed off a terrific stroke from deep, proving himself as a quick trigger shooter that can get the ball up and out of his hands all in one motion. It looks like Rodriguez has worked extremely hard to perfect his shooting, he has a beautiful form, shoots every shot the same way, and has the shooters touch, even when shooting contested or off-balance shots he still finds a way to hit nothing but the bottom of the net. Silas Rodriguez was a knockdown shooter in every way possible, especially when he got his rhythm going he was near automatic. The F.O.E. guard can also put the ball on the floor to create his own shot, whether it’s a pull-up jumper in the mid-range or getting to the basket where he was able to score some tough buckets through contact. Although he can score in all kinds of ways, he shows the potential to become a pure shooting specialist someday. Rodriguez’s game will fit in well at Denton Guyer throughout his high school career.

Cameren Paul Cameren Paul Cameren Paul 6'6" | WF TX | Irving, Tx | Class of 2025

Cameren Paul Cameren Paul Cameren Paul 6'6" | WF TX , a lengthy 6-foot-5 shooting guard that plays for Texas ranked high school basketball team, Universal Academy. Paul was one of the most dynamic offensive weapons the tournament had to offer. He attracted a lot of attention from the defense when the ball was in his hands due to his efficient shooting and scoring abilities. Cameren was so smooth and deadly off the dribble most teams didn’t have a clue how to guard him effectively. If they shut off his lane to the hoop he just beat them with his jump shot where he’s a good shooter in all situations with good mechanics as well. Cameren Paul Cameren Paul Cameren Paul 6'6" | WF TX displayed great instincts when it came to picking his spots or getting through the lane. He understood how to his size and length well and knew exactly which moves to break out and when to do them; his through the legs behind the back crossover was lethal and highly effective, it seemed like it worked just about every time he did it.

Hudson Goeloner | Rockwall, Tx | Class of 2025

Hudson was a strong, powerful big man that did an impressive job of establishing positioning each time up the floor. Good post presence, Goeloner kept his hands high, allowing him to consistently be open in the post. He was a true hustle player that was in full control of the boards, hitting the glass as hard as possible on both ends of the court. Hudson Goeloner did an outstanding job grabbing the ball at its highest point as soon as it came off the rim, showing impeccable timing and anticipation. He was a tough competitor who gave 110% and outworked his opponents every step of the way. He continued to fight till the bitter end regardless of the score on the board.
