We get started tomorrow at 8am, and right out the box, we will have an intriguing match-up in 13U Pool A, with SelfMade Ballers (Birmingham, AL) taking on AllBall (Miami, FL). In his 3rd year at the helm of his SelfMade Ballers squad, Coach TJ Green welcomes the early match-up and looks forward to seeing how his players will respond. Coach Joe Fuentes’s AllBall team is ready to enforce their will on the game from start to finish.
The style of play is going to be interesting to watch because both teams like to get out in transition. SelfMade Ballers has some athletic guards that will be tested by the violent, in-your-face, 94 feet defense that Team AllBall will play.
Both teams bring in some high-caliber players to watch. Take a look at some of the Key Match-ups:
The key to this game may rest in one position, and that is the PG spot. Which team’s PG can control the tempo for their team and win the turnover battle.
SelfMade Ballers PG: Terry Green, Jr. 5’10/Thompson Middle School (Alabaster AL)
Instagram: @coachyoung_og
Keys To His Game: He plays exceptionally well on both ends of the court. Likes to get downhill but will have to be more of a threat for his team to be successful in Winter Haven.
AllBall PG: Myles Fuentes 5’8
Keys To His Game: Has one mindset when he steps onto the court, which is attack on both ends of the floor. Has excellent handles and is the ignition for the high-tempo AllBall team.
On paper, the report says that we should get ready for a high-scoring offensive affair. If that is the case, these two players will be vital in the scoring column.
SelfMade Ballers Shooting Guard: Nate Ferguson 6’1/Helena Middle School (Helena AL)
Instagram: @ferggii
Keys To His Game: SelfMade Ballers will need Nate’s offensive prowess to be in full effect against Team AllBall. It might not be what he does on the offensive end but on the defensive end that helps his team in this game the most.
AllBall Shooting Guard: Mason Fuentes 5’11/Cedar Middle School (Fort Lauderdale FL)
Instagram: Mason_myles_allballers
Keys To His Game: 3 level scorer that is the coach on the floor for Team AllBall. If he gets going early, it could be a long outing for SelfMade Ballers.
I think we better get our running shoes on because this one will get us started early with a lot of up-tempo play in the morning.
