Scouts’ Take: Day 2 Stars From Rumble Under The Palms

Winter Haven, Fla. — An exciting weekend of youth hoops concluded in Central Florida on Sunday with champions being crowned at the Prep Hoops Next Rumble Under The Palms. Our team of scouts will provide an abundance of insight and analysis from the tournament during the next few days, but here’s a small sample of the best the event had to offer on the final day of action…

Herly Brutus Herly Brutus 6'4" | SF FL | Tavares, FL | Class of 2026

Terry Drake’s take: He has my vote as the most talented player in the 2026 class at the Rumble Under The Palms tourney. Brutus was clearly one of the best performers on both days, showing a wide array of offensive skills, and leading his team to the seventh-grade finals.

Spencer Pulliam’s take: Brutus continues to improve with each outing. The 6-foot-5 wing wasn’t the most dominant scorer at Rumble Under The Palms, but he was arguably the most impactful player in attendance. His 17 point performance against Central Florida Rising Stars (FL) in the seventh-grade semifinal only reinforced the fact we’re talking about one of the most gifted players in the Class of 2026 at the moment.

Oneal Delancy | St. Petersburg, FL | Class of 2027

Terry Drake’s take: Delancy was extremely impressive throughout the weekend, especially considering that he led an undermanned team to the Rumble Under The Palms 6th grade finals. He is a relentless competitor at a young age and simply willed his team to victory.

Spencer Pulliam’s take: The six-foot sixth-grade is capable of playing any position on the floor at this level and was perhaps the most outstanding performer in the Class of 2027 division at Rumble Under The Palms. Scoring in double-digits in four of his team’s five games, Delancy hung 20 points on CLT1 Sports (NC) in the championship game, yet his 30 point outburst in a victory against E1T1 (FL) was likely his most impressive outing of the weekend.

Ja’mariion ‘JD’ Palm | Dothan, AL | Class of 2025

Terry Drake’s take: Palm seemed to have another gear that he was saving for the closing rounds, because it was apparent that something switched from Day 1 to Day 2 for the young big man. He was the most dominant player regardless of classification during the final day at Rumble Under The Palms and left no doubt that he is a prospect to watch going forward.

Spencer Pulliam’s take: The 6-foot-9 post prospect provided an MVP-caliber performance in leading Tri-City Elite (GA) to the eighth-grade platinum division crown at Rumble Under The Palms. The Alabama product closed out the event with back-to-back 17 point performances that reinforced the notion he’s one of the Southeast region’s top talents in the Class of 2025.

Sequel Patterson | Charlotte, NC | Class of 2026

Terry Drake’s take: Patterson was nothing short of amazing on Day 2 at Rumble Under The Palms. After hitting a game-winner, Patterson continued his offensive rhythm, and was a huge reason his team made it to the 6th grade finals, ultimately winning the event.

Spencer Pulliam’s take: Patterson was one of the key contributors to a balanced CLT1 Sports (NC) attack in the sixth-grade division at the Rumble Under The Palms event. An athletic and aggressive backcourt prospect, Patterson thrived in a scoring role for his team, beginning the tournament with a 17 point effort against Miami Top Risers (FL) and closing the weekend with 15 points versus SPSA Runs (FL) in the Class of 2026 championship game.

Lloyd Swan | Miami, FL | Class of 2026

Terry Drake’s take: Swan was the glue guy for AllBall (FL) on Day 2 at Rumble Under The Palms. His game-winning shot placed his team in the 7th grade finals and his all-around impressive play in the championship game cemented Swan as one of the top players on Sunday.

Spencer Pulliam’s take: One of the more capable floor generals in the seventh-grade division, Swan’s game-winner to open bracket play on Sunday at Rumble Under The Palms was one of the event’s most exciting moments. His team would not have been in the championship game if not for Swan’s gritty play and chemistry with the Fuentes brothers, Mason and Myles, in forming the most impressive backcourt of the weekend.
