Cincinnati, Ohio — The country’s largest youth hoops event series continues its national tour as the Prep Hoops Next circuit will host a pair of simultaneous tournaments this weekend. Located just outside of Cincinnati in Batavia, Ohio, Elite Athletics Sports Complex will serve as the venue for “Blue Chip City Mayhem”, while Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City, Missouri will house the “Midwest Kick-off”. In all, more than 60 teams will take to the hardwood, once again blending an exciting line-up of returnees and newcomers to the circuit. Having already wrapped up a half-dozen tournaments to start the year, here’s what to watch for as the seventh and eighth events on the Prep Hoops Next schedule get underway on Saturday…
A March Madness Of Our Own
While the NCAA tournament will host all of its bracket games in Indianapolis, Indiana this year, several of its future participants are sure to take the floor in Cincinnati and Kansas City this weekend. Nearly 600 miles separate the two cities but our team will provide extensive coverage and live streaming of both events. It will be a very exciting two days of grassroots basketball as Prep Hoops Next hosts our first-ever, double-header weekend. Action tips-off at noon eastern time on Saturday in Ohio while games start an hour later at noon central time in Missouri. The “Blue Chip City Mayhem” (OH) schedule can be found here and the “Midwest Kick-off” (MO) schedule can be found here.
West Coast Select Hungry For More
Ribs, anyone? Taking a glance at the Midwest Kick-off schedule, no team stands out more in the eighth-grade division than Nevada-based West Coast Select. The talented group finished as runner-ups at the Prep Hoops Next West Coast Kick-off last month and will be looking to barbecue the field on their latest journey in which they’ll log nearly 3,000 miles roundtrip. Meanwhile, the Kansas Gauchos boast home court advantage and while they may not be planning a welcoming party for WCS when the group arrives at the airport, the resistance the hometown club can pose in the opening game should set the tone for the weekend.
Eighth-Grade Division Headliners
In Cincinnati, the Class of 2025 division at Blue Chip City Mayhem also promises to deliver an exciting weekend, featuring a 24-team field loaded with individual talent. Bates Fundamentals (MI) are the favorites entering the event but competition will be substantial. At last month’s Heartland Kick-off in Indiana, Platinum division champions, Team Teague – Kim (IN), and Gold division champions, All H.E.A.R.T. Basketball Club (OH), matched up in pool play. It’s only right we run it back this weekend and return the favor by giving the Ohio organization an opportunity to defend their home turf. Additionally, C.M.B. Runnin’ Rebels (MI) and D. Rice Elite (MI) won their respective pools at the Heartland Kick-off and will add to the mayhem.
Prep Hoops Next Circuit Adds Depth
There are a number of teams making their Prep Hoops Next circuit debuts this weekend that our team of scouts are excited to watch. Among the newcomers expected in Ohio for Blue Chip City Mayhem are Chapman Basketball (WI), Full Package (IL), Louisville Defenders (KY), Milwaukee Spartans (WI), Team BNU (OH), and Team Breakdown Kentucky (KY). The Midwest Kick-off list of Prep Hoops Next “rookies” includes Kansas City Basketball Academy (MO), K.C. Prodigy (MO), Mid-Mo Elite (MO), PBA Elite (MO), and Wisconsin Elite (WI) among others.
Buzz Building In Younger Grade Levels
Thirty-two of the sixty-three teams featured on the Prep Hoops Next circuit this weekend are sixth and seventh-grade clubs. While the balance may not always be obvious, that’s well over 300 total prospects from the Classes of 2026 and 2027 on display between Blue Chip Mayhem and the Midwest Kick-off. The undeniable result is ample opportunities for younger players to have their talents recognized. Our team at Prep Hoops Next is confident that the proportion of coverage dedicated to the younger divisions on our circuit is unmatched anywhere else in youth hoops and we’ll look forward to proving that fact again this weekend as we aim to discover additional talent.
Stay tuned for more from Prep Hoops Next!
