A number of clubs from across the state and region, including many talented seventh-grade teams, recently gathered for the inaugural Rumble Under The Palms tournament. The weekend marked the second of four events set to debut in the Southeast region as part of the Prep Hoops Next circuit. This two-part feature examines the best backcourt performers on-hand from the Class of 2026…
Treylan Beamer | Martinsville, VA | Class of 2026
Beamer was arguably the most consistent backcourt performer for CSB Elite (NC) during Rumble Under The Palms, scoring in double-digits three times, and helping lead the way for his team as the top seed in their pool. In the platinum bracket semifinals, the group suffered a gut-wrenching loss at the buzzer to eventual tournament champions, AllBall (FL). A reliable perimeter shooter, the 3rd Team All-Tournament selection also showcased his aptitude for converting opportunities in the lane, and was comfortable with the ball in his hands when faced with pressure from opposing defenses.
Mason Fuentes | North Lauderdale, FL | Class of 2026
The taller of Fuentes twins’, Mason stands near the six-foot mark, and is a capable scorer on the perimeter. If not for Fuentes’ 15-point outing in the platinum division semifinals against CSB Elite (NC), the seventh-grade Rumble Under The Palms championship could have very easily gone to another team. A wiry guard, Fuentes is confident in catch-and-shoot situations, and is also able to put the ball on the floor and attack the lane. The South Florida native was awarded 2nd Team All-Tournament honors and has his club playing like one of the better Class of 2026 units in the region, and perhaps beyond, at the moment.
Myles Fuentes | North Lauderdale, FL | Class of 2026
A quick and tenacious backcourt prospect, Fuentes was simply “en fuego” throughout his weekend at Rumble Under The Palms, shooting lights out from the perimeter and making timely passes while leading his AllBall (FL) club to the seventh-grade crown. Paired with his twin sibling, Mason, the Fuentes brothers proved to be one of the top-scoring duos at the event. The 5-foot-9 guard was named a 2nd Team All-Tournament honoree and his steady play resulted in an undefeated 5-0 record for his squad. Fuentes’ 16-point display in the title game versus Tri-City Ballers (FL) was one of the more exciting performances of the entire tournament.
Jamarcus Johnson | Palm Beach Gardens, FL | Class of 2026
A shifty and speedy guard, Johnson was a revelation on perhaps the most surprising team at the Rumble Under The Palms event, and his stellar play for Harris Athletics (FL) throughout the weekend landed him on the list of the tournament’s most impressive backcourt performers in the Class of 2026. The 5-foot-7 floor general guided his squad to a pair of 20+ point victories, and had his breakout game against the Central Florida Rising Stars (FL), scoring 12 points, delivering several pinpoint passes, and collecting a few steals to keep the group within striking distance until the closing minutes of the game.
Lucas McCrimon | Kissimmee, FL | Class of 2026
Reflecting back on the All-Tournament teams from Rumble Under The Palms, McCrimon’s exclusion from the list could certainly be classified as a snub. The 5-foot-10 lead guard was a critical piece to the success of Tri-City Ballers (FL), as the club advanced to the seventh-grade championship game, while collecting a 4-1 record at the event. McCrimon posted double-digit scoring efforts in three of those contests including a 21-point showing against P2Ballers (FL). A competent ball-handler adept at beating opponents off the bounce, the Central Florida resident is a determined competitor, and operates with intelligence and poise.
