In the first game, I watched in Burnsville on Friday night I watched D1 Minnesota-Moore dominate as a unit over Minnesota Splash. My biggest grasp from this one is how they dominated. They didn’t have one guy pouring it on with 15-20 points leading the way but they did have 3-4 guys that were versatile not only scoring at the bucket but had an excessive amount of team points (assists, rebounds, steals, blocks, etc.) which is why they were able to put the icing on the cake in game one on Friday at Burnsville High School.
That is Why They Call it the Battle at the Lakes
In-game two of the day, I watched a nail-bitter between Top Flight 2025 Hochstedler vs. Wisconsin Crusaders 2025 Premier Black a game that was a pure battle that went into overtime. What I loved about this one is the skillset each team played with. Top Flight seemed to roll with their post play feeding Cole Wilcek of Farmington (MN) for 14 points. For the Crusaders, they did with their outside shooting. They started off the first half with a chip on their shoulder but then the momentum switched Top Flight’s direction late in the second half and into overtime, although the Wisconsin Crusaders had a good shooting performance from Luke Jung of Neenah (WI). This is why they call the Battle at the Lakes!
A Shooting Clinic to end the night at Burnsville
In the last game of the night I took in, I watched Minnesota Lightning King 2025 vs. Illinois Attack 2025 a game that was a track meet for the Lightning especially from outside. The Lightning had a three-point shooting clinic last night from Kaiden Wilber of Holmen (WI) who was the #1 top performer from all three games I took in on night one. These guys played fundamentally sound in the late game on Friday night and I am excited to see if they can keep their strong momentum going into Saturday.
