Holloman is a true point guard that doesn’t waste possessions. Playing for NEBC Elite 14U, the PG showed an unmatched ability to put the ball in the hoop, as he had two big-time scoring games on Saturday and followed up with a solid performance on Sunday.
Javontae Edwards — Kevon Looney 14U — SG
Leading Kevon Looney all the way to the 14U championship, Edwards was pretty much unguardable. In a hard-fought win over EZ Work Elite, the shooting guard tallied 27 points and scored huge bucket after huge bucket. If you give him too much space, Edwards will make a three. But if you close out too hard, he is more than happy to drive right to the rim for a layup.
Trayvon Taylor — EZ Work Elite 14U — F
He is only 6-foot-1, but Taylor is a strong player that knows how to use his size around the hoop. Taylor was able to get position in the paint and then find very creative ways to finish around contact. For his age, I was very impressed by Taylor’s footwork. He scored 19 points in his team’s loss to Kevon Looney.
Gabe Sularski — Illinois Attack 13U — G
Sularski made his living in the paint on Sunday afternoon. Scoring 12 points with no made threes, the Illinois Attack guard slashed to the cup, drew fouls, and converted on some really difficult shots. Sularski put a lot of pressure on the opposing defense when he got to the rim.
Marcus McQueen Jr. — EZ Work Elite 14U — PG
McQueen struggled to get going in the first half of his squad’s loss to Kevon Looney. But late in the second half, the point guard found his shot and even put his team up by five points late in the game. McQueen is a speedy guard that can score well at all three levels.
Keegan Vankauwenberg — Wisconsin Crusaders 14U — SF
On Sunday, Vankauwenberg was able to get whatever he wanted on the offensive end of the court. Displaying his deep bag of tricks, the small forward made threes, drove to the rim, and took care of the ball-handling responsibilities.
Jalen Wilson — D1 Minnesota 14U — SF
Wilson is an athletic small forward that I could see dominating the Prep Hoops Circuit in the years to come. At the War for the North, Wilson showed that he can drain open threes and finish highlight-worthy layups. Wilson will no doubt be a prospect to keep an eye on in the future.
Drew Daoust — Wisconsin Crusaders 14U — G
Daoust was great on Saturday, but on championship Sunday he took his game to another level. The Wisconsin Crusaders guard did most of the scoring for his team, as he tallied 25 points in a huge win over a very good D1 Minnesota team.
