NYBL Takeover Invitational: Class of 2026 Standouts (Part One)

Jasiah Cannady | Maryland | Class of 2026

Cannady immediately impressed me last weekend at the NYBL Memorial Day Takeover Invitational with his offensive arsenal. He plays with a lot of craft and does a good job of picking apart defenders with his dribble. He had no trouble scoring the ball for his team, Above All Cost, as he can play on or off the ball. When he was playing off the ball his teammates did a good job of finding him to shoot the ball. Cannady is also a standout on the football field, but it was all basketball in Greensboro for him as he was one of the top guards from the 2026 class that Prep Hoops Next saw.

Caleb Holt Caleb Holt 6'4" | WF AL | Alabama | Class of 2026

Holt was by far the most dominating player at the NYBL Memorial Day Takeover Invitational and put up one of the most impressive outings I have seen at the middle school level. Playing against a very good Team Takeover bunch, Holt finished with 36 points for Aim High and by doing it at all three levels. The 6’5 wing was simply getting to the rim whenever he wanted and used his size and strength to his advantage. He also got a good amount of his points from securing an offensive rebound and finishing it right under the basket. He finished with a few transition dunks and saw his shot fall on a jumper that does need to be worked on. Holt showed why he is considered one of the better athletes in the 2026 class on a national level.

Callen Morrison Callen Morrison 5'11" | WG VA | Virginia | Class of 2026

Morrison has received a high reputation for his game and after seeing him at the NYBL Memorial Day Takeover Invitational, I see why. A true point guard, Morrison does everything you want in a lead guard. He has a high IQ, sets up his teammates perfectly and can score when needed. Morrison has a quick burst that he uses to get to his spots on the floor and also used that speed well on defense where on numerous occasions he quickly turned defense into offense. The future looks super bright for the guard out of the Tidewater area.

Terrence Moultrie | Maryland | Class of 2026

Moultrie is a super intriguing prospect because of what he can do with the basketball at his size. Currently standing at 6’1 with some solid strength to him, Moultrie plays bigger than that as he can finish well around the rim. Contact does not seem to phase him as bodies were bouncing off of him left and right but he was still able to score the ball when that happened. Moultrie has long arms and did a good job of tearing down rebounds on both sides of the ball. He can also handle the ball well as Above All Cost let him bring the ball up the court on multiple occasions and let him play on the perimeter. There is a lot of versatility to Moultrie’s game that should help him at the high school level.

Qayden Samuels Qayden Samuels 6'2" | PF MD | Maryland | Class of 2026

The first thing that stood out about Samuels was the baby fat he has lost and the development his body has gone through. The 6’2 lefty has long arms that allows him to be a reliable defender being able to guard multiple positions with his length. Samuels was rebounding the ball at a high level on the defensive end and also kept a few possessions alive on offense. Samuels knocked down some shots from the perimeter as he was always staying shot ready. Samuels is a name to start monitoring in the DMV as he is part of a very talented Team Takeover group.
