The focus on this article is lead guards as the talent of point guards were through the roof. These five guards caught our eyes as being some of the top facilitators at the event…
David Bolden | Kevon Looney | Class of 2025
Bolden had an impressive showing at Prep Hoops 2K21 as he is part of a very good Kevon Looney group. Playing with some of the top prospects at the event, the 5’9 guard made sure to get the ball to his teammates and did it at a high level by protecting the ball well and not having a lot of turnovers. Bolden is the leader of this Kevon Looney team and sets the tone for how the team plays on any given day.
Jake Fithian | Louisville Magic | Class of 2025
Fithian was one of the top energy guys at Prep Hoops 2K21 which resulted in him always making winning plays and having positive production during his time on the court. Fithian has a lot of snipers around him on Louisville Magic which allowed the 5’8 guard to rack up the assist column at Prep Hoops Next 2K21.
Blake Gray | Indy Nets Basketball Club | Class of 2025
Gray was the top lead guard at the Prep Hoops Next 2K21 from the class of 2026 that I saw during my time in Indianapolis and is someone I am looking forward to following as he gets older. He does a good job of handling the ball and keeping it tight on a leash, not allowing the defense to get it or have his team suffer from turnovers. He distributed the ball very nicely as he is always thinking team first.
Damon Howard Jr. | Progeny | Class of 2025
Howard gets the nod as being my favorite point guard at Prep Hoops Next 2K21 as he has some serious craft while the basketball is in his hands. Howard has an advanced skill set that separated him from a lot of point guards from the event. He has really good vision, delivers his passes on a dime and always knows where his teammates are going to be offensively. Howard may only be 5’6 but he is not afraid of anyone.
Makai Kvamme | Full Package Black | Class of 2026
Heading into the Prep Hoops Next 2K21, I had heard about the passing ability Kvamme is capable of and he did not disappoint during our time in Indianapolis. Kvamme, who is listed at 5’10, led his Full Package bunch all tournament long doing a great job of setting up his teammates and leading them. Kvamme has a good group around him that made his job easier too.
