We were able to talk with his program director, Coach K, about Talley’s summer and development…
“He had a really good summer. He was able to showcase a lot of what he has been able to work on and the development he has had. He went to the CP3 Camp in Chicago and did real well there making the Top 20 game. He was in the trenches every weekend this summer because we had a high caliber schedule this summer.”
Coach K has been able to see the development of Talley a lot already since Talley has grown up with the program and K still thinks Talley is just scratching the surface.
“He is one of the kids that has come up and developed in our program. He is home-bred with us and he has a lot of the physical features you want in a guard in terms of being strong and he is pushing about 6 feet tall now so he has good size for a guard. He has a great will to win. He is really hard to guard off the dribble because of his strength and skills. When he gets to the rim he can finish really well. He had one game this past January where he had 8 threes so his shot is getting a lot more consistent, he is still just scratching the surface.”
Part of where he was able to introduce himself and put his name out there was CP3 Camp back in Chicago this past spring.
“He had a really good summer. He was able to showcase a lot of what he has been able to work on and the development he has had. He went to the CP3 Camp in Chicago and did real well there making the Top 20 game. He was in the trenches every weekend this summer because we had a high caliber schedule this summer.”
The future is certainly bright for Talley as he is already in discussion about whether he is going to play varsity basketball this year or not.
“Right now it is up in there if he is going to play Varsity or not this year so you can already tell he is scratching the surface. He is one of those kids that is going to go as far as he wants to go. I see him as a high major guard and depending how much bigger he gets will determine if he plays the point or more of a shooting guard.”
Talley still has a lot of time left before college and there are a few things that Coach K would like to see him continue to work on.
“He just needs to stay focused and remember to worry about the task on hand. He has a real sharp IQ and a good skill set. If he continues to work on his on ball defense that will make him a better defender, we want to see him continue to sit down and stay in front of the guy he is guarding and lastly to just see the court a little better and work on his court vision.”
