Below are three takeaways from each middle school class after the opening day of the event.
Potential In Sam Funches
Being the tallest kid at the camp, the spotlight is always going to be on Funches and I was fortunate enough to see a few of his games on Saturday. Pushing 6’9, his size obviously allows him to do a lot of good things on the floor and that was shown on Saturday. It will be interesting to monitor how much taller he gets as he continues to get older. It will also be super important for the 2026 prospect to keep adding muscle to his body to build his strength.
Jadarian ‘JD’ Williams Shows Out
I had not seen Williams live before yesterday but I had heard much about him and the hype surrounding him is real. Williams is an explosive guard that has good athleticism that can allow him to score the ball in a variety of ways while making it look super easy. Williams was also impressive on the defensive side of the ball and continued to get after it on that end. Williams is certainly a 2027 prospect to remember from the state of Texas.
Erick Dampier is Number 1 In 2028
Going into the CP3 Middle School Combine, I had not seen a more productive 2028 prospect than Dampier and after the first day of the CP3 Middle School combine, that statement remains true. Dampier is just so much bigger than everybody in his grade which allows him to absolutely dominate his opposition. Dampier had a monster game in the paint and remains to be the number one prospect in the 2028 class as of now.
