The games were intense and the basketball was good as Sunday was a great day in the gym wrapping up our first event of the PHN 2021-2022 season. Below are three takeaways from the day!
AZ Unity Dominates As A Program
I wrote about how strong their program was after the first day of Duel In The Desert and they backed up on Sunday with a team from their program winning a championship from each age division. We knew they were one of the top teams entering the tournament but now it is time to start talking about them being one of the top middle school programs in the country.
Mason Magee Was Best Scorer Of The Weekend
There was not a more dominant scorer than Mason Magee this past weekend at Duel In The Desert. The 8th grader had multiple twenty plus performance games as there was simply nobody in the gym that was able to stop him. For an 8th grader he has an advanced level skill-set and honestly could be contributing in games at the high school level right now in my opinion. This might be the beginning but expect to hear a lot more from Magee in the coming years.
ABC Spotlight Has Nice Showing
The ABC Spotlight program had a good showing in Phoenix this weekend and Prep Hoops NEXT walked away liking what we saw from them. All of their teams are super deep and have a lot of different lineups they can throw at you in multiple age groups. We are expecting this program to have a big season in 2022!
