When is comes to grassroots programs there are so many too choose from in everyone’s respective market. In California there are so many programs that finding the right fit is always important. Players looking for loyalty and development can always find a come in Genesis Hoops.
Team Name: Genesis Hoops Black
City/State: Temecula, California
Coach: Rudy Brown
Tell me a little bit about your program when and how it started and how it’s going and where you want things to go?
Genesis Hoops started in 2014, training literally one hard working player.
Our program philosophy is built on skills training and the development of players both on and off the court.
After hosting a number of skills camps and clinics, the program has grown to over 20 teams including a training clientele that has gone on to play college basketball in programs D1-D3 throughout the country.
As long as we are blessed enough to be able to, we’d love to continue being a resource and system of support for student athletes on their journey of goal-oriented personal development.
As a program that trains players and is big on development, what are some things you focus on as a club to instill in your players?
In an age where most players have a “me first” mentally, we intentionally emphasize the fact that greater long term rewards come with having a motivated, but unselfish team mentality. Teams win championships, not individual players, and it will always be true that you can lift more with 10 hands than you can with just 2. Because I know this attitude supports success both on the court and in life, I try to equip them with this mindset, as it’s just as important as being confident skill wise. We put a heavy emphasis on 3 components of success: discipline (being purposeful and consistent even when it’s hard), goal setting (not just dream setting), and accountability (holding yourself and your team accountable both on and off the court). As much as we try to train their bodies, we also try to enhance their mindset.

Genesis Hoops will have a scrappy group that plays with fundamentals and they play the game the right way. Looking forward to seeing them at The West Coast Kick-Off.
