The MIT is a great opportunity to get eyes on future prospects that will soon be at different high schools throughout the DMV. Below are three headlines from our time in the gym on Saturday…
Team Melo Shows Out
Team Melo put a 2026 group in the MIT this past weekend and they showed their competitiveness when I was able to see them on Saturday in a win against Tru2Form. Down low Melo was led 6’5 Juckso Kiss. Kiss obviously had a height advantage over his competition and used that advantage well. 5’11 guard Diego Joy really set the pace for Melo. The lefty can play on or off the ball and was a constant contributor at both guard spots this past weekend.
Jalyn Collingwood Impresses
Collingwood immediately caught my eyes standing at 6’3 and showed all day long he looks like one of the best long term prospects in the DMV area from the local 2026 class. Collingwood has great athleticism and versatility which allowed him to be dominant for his New World bunch who ended up winning the 2026 Super Pool and the entire MIT championship.
NJ Scholars Have A Strong Duo
Even though I saw them lose to Team Thrill in overtime, 6’5 Chidi Nwigwe and 6’4 Ikenna Alozie were among the best players this past weekend at the MIT. Nwige is super quick with long arms and has already filled his body out nicely for only being in 8th grade. Alozie is a powerful and explosive guard that was impossible to stop while attacking the rim for the Scholars.
