Let’s Get Ready For AAU Camp: 8 Top 8th Graders

The first-ever Let’s Get Ready For AAU Camp was held on Sunday in Bay City, Michigan. The event was run by Coach Dell Johnson, owner of E.A.T., a nonprofit organization that works toward providing free and affordable training to players. Coach Dell has been a regular at the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250 and his E.A.T. grassroots team has played on the Prep Hoops Circuit as well. The Let’s Get Ready For AAU camp is an extension of of his Let’s Get Ready boys and girls high school camp, one of the biggest and most successful high school events in Michigan.

We will look at 10 players, from various grades, that stood out at the event.

Luke Arnold (8th Grade, Bay City)

Arnold was solid at the event on Sunday. He used a really good jump stop off a feed and on a dribble drive. This gave him an opportunity to be under control and make the right decisions with the ball.

Jaylen Hankamp (8th Grade, Saline)

Hankamp was a solid 2 way player at the event. He grinded on the defensive end, showing the ability to guard on the perimeter as well as in the paint. Offensively, he showed a nice stroke from behind the arc.

Jeremiah Jackson (8th Grade, Saginaw)

Jackson turned heads at Let’s Get Ready For AAU. He showed the ability to get tough athletic buckets in traffic. Jackson also worked off the ball, setting solid screens for his teammates.

Brylon Narvaiz (8th Grade)

Narvaiz did a lot of things very well on Sunday. He was a good fluid athlete with effortless movements. Narvaiz has a solid upside.

Phillip Patton (8th Grade, Saginaw)

Patton stays pass ready and is especially effective off a catch and shoot. He has the strength to bang in the post and the ball skills to be effective on the perimeter.

Aiden Revette (8th Grade, Bay City)

Revette proved to be a stone cold shooter with definite 3 point range. Defenders had to be constantly aware of him and he effectively stretch the D because of it. Revette also handled the ball well and could project as a combo guard in high school.

Dawson Sprunger (8th Grade, Bay City)

Sprunger had a very solid day on Sunday. He showed good straight line speed with the ball in his hands. Sprunger made a huge play in a game with a late rebound and put back bucket.

Rowan Zickert (8th Grade, Thompsonville)

Zickert made a big statement at Let’s Get Ready For AAU. He was very efficient with the ball and played a physical downhill game. Zickert attacked the defense, shot at a very high percentage, and drew fouls in the lane.
