While there were players that stood out by their performances on Day 1 and 2.. there was also another talented group of players that caught my eye! Below are players to watch – players who showed impressive skills that made me want to take notes!
Below are high-ceiling players to keep an eye on as they begin to develop their game.
Oyenpreye Dorgu I All WI Leland | 2026
Dorgu was a rebound magnet last week. His height and presence presented problems to his opponents. His focus and mental toughness rewarded him numerous visits to the free throw line. He also showcased his defensive prowess with active hands and blocks in the paint.
Trey Resch I CBA Gold Elite I 2027
Resch led his team all tournament with; vocal leadership, active hands in the passing lanes, and lights out shooting. His consistent touch from range spaced the floor for CBA Gold Elite. He made clutch plays as the focal point of his team’s offense. He knows how to get to his spots well and can finish around much bigger players. His performance led his team to the Championship round.
Colin Piper I Northstar Titans I 2026
Piper’s post play made a major impact for the Northstar Titans! His footwork was fun to watch. His displayed patience and presence of mind – which resulted in open shots for him and his teammates. His nose for the ball caused him to pile up defensive boards and put backs. He was able to create solid opportunities for others in the game as well. Made his teammates better.
Charles Thomas I Team Illinois I 2027
Charles made a living in the paint with finesseful finishes around the basket! The Team Illinois standout displayed a consistent attack that allowed him to draw the foul and get to the line. He shot a high percentage at the free throw line for his team as well. Thomas has a leadership mentality about his game – he created the tempo at many points for his team. In addition, he made his presence known by walking away with a handful of boards on both ends of the floor.
Dooney Johnson I X-Men United I 2027
Johnson had an incredible tournament! He has game. He was leading the break, stretching the floor, and showcasing guard skills throughout the weekend. His combination of skill and size made for a mismatch nightmare on both ends. He excelled at shooting over the top of smaller guards and breaking down bigs on the perimeter. Johnson’s effort on the defensive end caused a lot of easy points in transition. A major contributor to X-Men United’s Championship run.
Max Jones I GCG I 2026
Jones is a physical presence in the paint. He was the catalyst for GCG when things were going right on the floor. His crafty footwork and ability to use the glass made for a standout performance. His shot fakes and pivots kept his opponents on their toes. Billups proved to be cagey on the offensive end. The GCG Milwaukee standout controlled the defensive boards and also stretched the floor by creating shots off the dribble.
Reece Jordan Jr I NESYB I 2027
Jordan Jr is a really intriguing athlete with a ton of upside and athleticism. He put on a shooting clinic on the second day of tournament play! The sharp-shooting guard hit a multitude of threes off the dribble as well as his play off the ball. His constant movement made him difficult to contain. His ability to put it on the floor gave him a balanced attack.
