The event runs from Friday, May 20th, and concludes Sunday, May 22nd. The Showcase event featured over 60 teams. Saturday saw games played throughout the day. Despite the majority of the field consisting of H.S programs, several middle school players took the opportunity to shine. In this article, a follow-up to Middle School Standouts Part 2, we take a look at some more of the Middle School Standouts from the event.
James Williams 6’1 SG Las Vegas Knicks 2026 – Williams will be a nice addition to Bishop Manogue next season. He has a good skill set, and he showed the ability to knock down open shots in catch-and-shoot action. I was impressed with his overall speed. On several occasions, Williams showed the ability to get out ahead of the pack and finish plays in transition.
Tommy Isbell 5’10 CG Las Vegas Knicks 2026 – I Thought Isbell played with a little more shiftiness than I remember. The lefty showed an improved wiggle freeing himself from defenders. He will have to increase his release speed, in order to get it off at the varsity level, however, he does have good mechanics and he showed that he is more than capable of knocking down threes in catch-and-shoot situations.
Tyus Thomas 5’10 PG West Coast Select 2026 (featured image) – Thomas is making his case for the number 1 spot in the state when the 2026 rankings come out. His IQ makes him effective, but it’s his mentality and fundamentals that make him a dawg. His use of P&R basketball was masterful, as Thomas consistently came off shoulder to shoulder and made the correct reads. He was nearly flawless in executing pocket passes and would turn the corner when defenders failed to properly hedge. His ability to give contact and finish was impressive, as the PG routinely took the legs away from long and rangy rim-protecting defenders.
Tayshawn Ceasar 5’8 CG Las Vegas Knicks 2026 – Ceasar has some good tools, He attended my middle school camp last fall, and measured out at a wingspan of ’71. His long arms helped him on both ends of the floor. The 5’8 combo showed the ability to defend both backcourt spots effectively. He also used his length to grab long rebounds and finish plays with layups over the top of taller defenders.
Joseph Hartman 6’0 SG Las Vegas Knicks 2026 – Glad I got to see Harman one more time as he’s headed to Florida to play high school ball. Looks like the Sunshine State is getting a really good one. He has an advanced 1 v 1 game and displayed good fundamentals and footwork. Hartman used jab steps and shot fakes to create space from defenders before completing plays. He showed good ball skills as well, the wing, flashed a nice spin move in the open court, to avoid a couple of defenders before finishing in transition.
Mason Schweitzer 5’11 SG Las Vegas Knicks 2026 – Schweitzer is a next play type of player, who plays with tremendous confidence. One way I like to evaluate players is after a missed shot, or in a tight contest and IMO he grades out high at both. Schweitzer is a good outside shooter, who was willing and able to make several run-stopping shots for his team throughout the weekend. He’s not the tallest or most athletic player on the floor, however, he competes at a high level, and helped his team this weekend with his shooting, ballhandling, and perimeter defense.
