This event was filled with thriller games, buzzer beaters, shocking upsets, high-speed talent, elite ball-handlers, deadly sharpshooters, unstoppable bucket getters, and dominant postmen. Here take a look at some of the most effective rebounders I witnessed.
Landon Fowler | Hoyas Elite 2028
Strong, stocky with sticky hands, Landon Fowler was by far the strongest sixth-grader I saw all weekend. Once he had a grasp on the ball there was no taking it away. Fowler controlled the glass on both ends giving the Hoyas extra shooting opportunities, he also caused countless jump balls due to his hustle for 50/50 balls and his fight for the rebounds. This kid was one of it not the most uncontainable rebounder in his division, he even palmed rebounds with one hand. Landon Fowler played his role to perfection, he didn’t have to score to impact the game or make his presence felt, Fowler rebounded and defended the paint with force and energy.
Mitch Kirkland | Bryson Warren United 2028
Mitch Kirkland couldn’t be kept off the boards, he stood out a major way as a terrific rebounder, especially on the offensive end where Kirkland was most reliable, always in a good position to clean up a teammate’s miss and go back up with it. Kirkland also showed a good eye and anticipation for where the ball would come off the rim allowing him to go up after it before anyone else had the chance.
Lucas Linsy | Bryson Warren United 2028
Lucas Linsy stepped up and dominated the offensive glass in the team’s biggest game of the event, the 12U Collision in the Ville Championship. Linsy displayed a good post presence, playing much bigger and stronger than he looks while showing an understanding of how to use his body to position himself and push players out of the paint for rebounds when boxing out.
B.J. Crisp | Tulsa Hawks 2028
B.J. Crisp utilized his hands and body well, very strong with well-controlled strength and power. The low post lefty brought enough energy for everyone in the gym, Crisp really locks into the game, competing with outstanding effort, making smart plays with and without the ball, playing within his means, and with a love and passion for the game of basketball.
