The prospects in the building displayed eye-catching talents. Nearing the end of the Spring season, there are many players to keep an eye on going into the Summer. In both blowouts and nail biters, athletes came to compete and get exposure. It’s not always about what is on the scoreboard but the high-level skills displayed at such a developing age. Below, I’ve highlighted some of the Gamechangers that I watched compete at The Tune-Up.
Soane Hola | Team Ferrari
Hola is a versatile prospect who has next-level instincts. When Team Ferrari looked to press, the mobile forward found himself causing steals and deflections. His lateral quickness allows him to guard 1-5 when switching on screens. His power and footwork in the paint make for easy points and draw a lot of attention. This facilitating forward has a team-first mentality that makes for a lot of good looks when passing out of the post as well as making the right reads when advancing the ball in transition.
Cambren Price | LA Broncos
Price is a crafty prospect at the guard whose instincts set him apart on the floor. His ability to attack angles and get to his spot was noticeably impressive. When dissecting the paint he showed a multitude of up fakes and pivots, finished around the rim with either hand and finished through contact. The versatile guard proved to be a reliable floor spacer in catch and shoot situations. The hard-nosed guard’s threat as a driver kept opponents on their heels, which resulted in clean looks from range.
Eian Baker | Cy Fair Elite HTX
Baker is a high-energy prospect whose hustle was impactful for Cy Fair Elite HTX. His quick feet and active hands jammed up ball handlers. His impact defense and ability to cut off a dribble made for effective traps in the corners of the floor. In addition, Baker caused steals and deflections in the passing lanes. Baker’s effort and intensity led to easy points in transition. Cy Fair Elite HTX’s impressive flow and momentum were hugely impacted by Baker’s hustle and vocal leadership. The two-way forward has a “winning basketball” impact on the game.
Imani Dean | WBBP Rush
Dean is a versatile scoring guard who has a next-level ready feel for the game. His efficiency in pick-and-roll situations was game-changing for WBBP Rush. His ability to get downhill pulled at helped defenders on a multitude of occasions. Dean’s in-between game was on display via; mid-range pull-ups with great rhythm, soft and timely floaters around the rim, and quick-witted up-fakes to send opponents flying. Dean is a tough cover who requires a lot of attention when he’s in mode to score.
Max Doktor | Nike ProSkills SA
Doktor is a paint presence on both ends of the floor. His vocal leadership led the way for Nike Pro Skill San Antonio. His motor and nose for the ball were impactful each time out on the floor. Extending offensive possessions and ending possessions for opponents, the wiry prospect is reliable on the boards. His ability to alter shots and crowd his opponent without fouling stood out to me. His awareness to be midline resulted in a lot of broken plays and blocks via help defense.
