No matter pool play or playoff games all the games had the energy of a championship game. All games were on time and this was one of the most well-organized tournaments I have been to. I highly recommend you check out Ricky Moore and any Jr Hoops Elite Event. Here are some of the stand-out players I got a chance to check out.
Anfrenee Moore Meanstreets 2028 – Getting up and down the floor with no problem and using his size Anfrenee had a double-double all weekend which lead him to a championship win over a loaded Chi-Town Bulldogs 2028 team.
Braydon Porter Meanstreets 2028 – Super long athletic wing with scary athletism. Braydon brings a defensive anchor that gets Meanstreets off and running. His ability to push the ball in transition and make the right play makes Meanstreets even more dangerous.
Darrius Hawkins Meanstreets 2028 – having to use his IQ and get his team involved while guarding the best player on each team all-tournament showed why he is the leader of his team. Getting put in a box in 1 in the championship game and able to facilitate the offense vs Chi-Town bulldogs showed why Darrius is the top guard in the class of 2028.
Derrion Wallace Chi-Town Bulldogs 2028 – When his team needed him most he stepped up big down the stretch to keep the game close in the championship game vs Meanstreets, Derrion did a lot of everything and was always in the right place at the right time.
Roosevelt Thomas Chi-Town Bulldogs 2028 – Roosevelt is a train coming thru the lane that can simply not be stopped. With a number of takeover performances this weekend it’s safe to say why Roosevelt was at the top of his class. Adjusting to defense Roosevelt has developed a jump shot he is confident in which is making the game a lot easier for him.
Elijah Bell Illinois Fast 2027 Every game this weekend Elijah got to where ever he wanted to on the floor. A pure slasher who can finish at the rim with both hands and will make you pay if you leave him open.
Cole Kelly Illinois Flight 2028 With his size and skill Cole is already a problem no matter what position you play him at. Being able to finish with both hands at the rim and being left-handed is an added bonus. Pick and roll, pick and pop, back to the basket, face-up however you want it Cole Kelly has it. With his nonstop communication on the floor calling out screens and switches Cole has the total package on both ends of the floor.
Tray Alford Ilinois Flight 2027 After Tray hit 4 plus threes each game during pool play I locked in on this young man and will label Tray a bonified shooter you can not leave open. Being consistent all tournament helped lead his team to a championship win in the 7th-grade bronze Division.
Malik Horton Da Future 2028 Malik is a pure paint beast! a high-motor big who sets the tone for his team on the defensive end and who can finish with both hands under the rim!
Dream Horton Da Future 2028 In a semi-final showdown vs Chitown Bulldogs and nationally ranked Roosevelt Thomas Dream showed why he’s one of the best players on the west side of Chicago! This was a game I would pay to see again with Da Future losing by in over time. Off the defensive rebound and getting downhill Dream could not be stopped, showing off his skill in one of the biggest games of the season for this group.
Jarrett Swift Jr CD Elite 2026 I got the chance to watch this young man play in a 16u playoff game and scored 13 points off the bench easily. It looks like Proviso East has another rare talent coming in. A three-level scorer JR has a high IQ which makes him hard to stay in front of and will finish over the top of bigs. Using his athletism to play the passing lanes makes JR a two-way player college coaches are going to fall in love with.
