We were able to catch up with their director Casey Mooneyham to get a preview what to expect when they head to Kansas City and their experience so far on the PHN Circuit…
“We have been really pleased with it. My kids and my parents love it. The social media aspect is great and gives the kid a lot of exposure. In all of the platforms we have played in this has by far been those most organized.”
Health is going to be crucial to the success for Casey and his bunch in July and the expectations have been set high.
“If we can stay healthy and have all of the guys we are supposed to have, I think we will have as good of a shot to win as anybody. This spring and summer has really hurt us with injuries but if we can stay healthy, it will be a really good weekend for us.”
If everybody is healthy and certain things are done, Casey thinks these expectations can be reached if his team stays calm and handles the pressure correctly.
“Our thing right now is to handle the pressure moments. We can’t let our kids get rattled or frustrated. The two events we played with you guys this year, we got to the final four but since then we have had some time to grow and I feel like we are in a good spot.”
Three guys that play a major part to Missouri Crush were talked about below and Monneyham is expecting big things from them at the National Championship.
Chase Branham: “I think he is one of the top guards in the country. He is the real deal, he is the total package. He can handle the ball, he is quick, he can shoot it from all levels, he can guard, he is a total gym rat and he can really make our team go.
Adam McKnight: “He is a 6’2 kid and he is probably the best shooter on our team. He can score the ball from a lot of different levels and has a really high motor and he is a coache’s dream come true type kid.”
Beau Blanton: “He is a tall lanky guy that can protect the rim, he blocks a lot of shots and really just does all the little things. He boxes out, dives on the floor for loose balls, he is very coachable and plays his role very well.
