All Wisconsin may be one of the quickest stock-rising teams I watched compete this summer. They seemed to improve as a collective each time they stepped onto the court. Their depth is impressive and will continue to be as they add more height next season. All Wisconsin’s team basketball combined with a stacked group of pure athletes who simply work really hard made them a difficult matchup on many occasions. After a 35-10 season, All Wisconsin is a name to remember going into next season. Below is a post-season interview with Coach Ivory, who coaches All Wisconsin 14U.
Below is the latest team roster and a few notes on what each player brings to this squad.
#7 Aiden Sweeney
G | 5’7 | Hortonville
Quick shifty lefty guard, great handle, and a threat from deep.
#3 Tristen Ruys
G | 5’6 | Kimberly
Shifty, tough lead guard, smooth handle with low turnover rate. A for sure closer that you can trust in the clutch.
#4 Sam Robb
W | 5’11 | De Pere
DEFENDER! Lefty with good length, superior defender that defends multiple positions. Team leader in steals.
#14 Sam Ferguson
F | 6’2 | WLA
Tough big bodied player, and a great offensive rebounder.
#13 Parks Hlaban
W | 6’4 | Kimberly
He is a long and lengthy player, working on his offensive game but he will be a surprise to many! An emerging defender that has a high basketball IQ.
#5 Gannan Schwartz
G | 5’8 | WLA
Tough as nails! He is a great lead guard that can score in bunches but is best at leading his team. The 4th leading scorer, team leader in assists, and a knock-down shooter.
#32 Max Chan
G | 5’11 | Hortonville
Shooter! He will run off 5 straight 3’s in a matter of seconds. An above-average athlete that can get to the basket or shoot floaters.
#1 Ryan Buchanan
W | 6’2 Kimberly
The leading scorer on All Wisconsin 14U. Shoots the 3, mid-range, and post-up. He’s an above-average rebounder and tough as nails.
#9 Ben Zdzreblowski
F | 6’4 | Kimberly
Stretches the floor with his soft shooting touch. Team leader in rebounding, great help defender, and 3rd leading scorer.
#2 Ethan Joling
W | 6’3 | Hortonville
Swiss army knife! Second, on the team in points, rebounds, and assists. A tough defender that guards multiple positions and excels at it. One of the best two-way players in his class.
Here is what Coach Ivory had to say following the Prep Hoops NEXT season.
Question: What were the biggest accomplishments (team or individual) this season?
Answer: 35-10 as a team and making 7 championship games with 3 wins in 9 tournaments is the biggest accomplishment for us. Each player on my team has scored at least 16 points in a game with the exception of 2 guys. Ben Zdzreblowski had a 26-point 12-rebound game at Prep Hoops Nationals, Ethan Joling had a game of 18-points 11-rebounds, and 8-assists at Prep Hoops Nationals. Ryan Buchanan had a 24-point game at the Minnesota D1 tournament in Colorado, Max Chan also had a 22-point game at the same tournament 6/7 on 3ptrs. Gannan Schwartz had a couple of 18-point games at the Minnesota D1 Nationals. Tristan Ruys had a 16-point game at Prep Hoops Nationals, also the game-winning steal and layup against Buchanan Elite.
Q: Biggest stock riser/most improved this season
A: Ethan Joling, Gannan Schwartz, Ben Zdzreblowski, and Ryan Buchanan will be names that are going to stand out next season. Sam Robb will get mentions because of his defense, Parks Hlaban will be a name in 2 years that people will definitely know.
Q: Which player creates the flow on this team?
A: Gannan Schwartz is the engine that gets us going, Ethan Joling is our go-to throughout the games, Ben Zdzreblowski is our toughness, Parks Hlaban is our energy off of the bench, and Tristan Ruys is our calming presence.
Q: Who will be a varsity athlete at their respective high school programs next season?
A: Ethan Joling and Gannan Schwartz will be the first guys to get varsity minutes if I had to pick right now but Ben Zdzreblowski and Ryan Buchanan will probably get a call-up early in the season.
Q: What is expected for next summer? Who will return? The same plan of attack?
A: Next summer will be tougher for us than this summer because no one expected us to come on the scene as we did so 35-10 will be tougher to duplicate. My roster will be the same except for Aidan Sweeney and Sam Ferguson. We have a few folks to replace them 6’8 Andrew Jensen will join us, he played the last 3 tournaments with us this year and is constantly improving his overall game. The last spot will be filled but we have a few guys in line for that, more athletes, size, and shooting. So expect there to be 6’8, 6’6, 6’4, 6’4, 6’3, 6’3, 5’11, 5’11, 5’7, and 5’8 for our lineup. Our plan of attack is to be better than we were before individually and as a team. Creating tempo and basketball IQ are our greatest assets!
Prep Hoops NEXT is excited to watch this talented group make noise again next season!
