LA Broncos were another program that was certainly on the “watch list” prior to the season. Coached by Jerry Armwood and Ledell Eackles, we were thrilled to have the LA Broncos competing on the circuit this season. Without a major post presence, the LA Broncos relied heavily on guard play and their quickness in attacking the basket. A group of athletes that give 100% on both ends of the floor was going to be hard to beat and it was clear they would bring high energy at each event they attended.
Coach mentioned that his team grew in maturity prior to the season and they were ready to compete on a national level. The group practiced twice a week, implemented personal training, and focused a lot of time on skill development. Needless to say, they were Prep Hoops NEXT circuit ready.
Below is the latest team roster and a few notes on what each player brought to the squad this summer.
Ashton Brackens: Tough guard, aggressive on both ends of the floor
Treven Barber – Defensive player, team player
Evan LeDoux – High IQ, great decision maker, a point guard that can control the game, can penetrate and score at any time or create for a teammate, very coachable
Jerry Armwood III – An aggressive athlete, hustle player
Jeremey Patton – High-level defensive player that gives the whole team an energy boost.
Toddrick Bradley – Hustle player that gives 100% every time he touches the floor.
Braylon Horne – A great rebounder. A big guard that can handle the ball and the Coach would consider him the most improved player this season.
Micah Rogers – High-energy point guard who can defend. His ability to handle ball pressure has greatly improved this year.
Carlos Perry – Great rebounder on both ends of the floor, nice lefty shooter
Kyron Young – Knock-down shooter, team player
A high-ceiling group of athletes and soon-to-be HS players to watch, we dove deeper into LA Broncos 2027 [Q&A with Coach Armwood and Coach Eackles] and their experience on the Prep Hoops NEXT circuit and what’s to come for these prospects.
Which Prep Hoops Next event do you remember most?
The Sunshine Slam in Florida – going 0-4 really opened our eyes to the level of national competition and offered a moment of reflection for coaches, players, and parents. This led to growth for the team mentally and physically.
Also, I would have to say The Tune Up in Dallas. We were really working together well as a team. Not giving up, believing we could win regardless of the situation. Our point guard, Evan LeDoux, really stood out as the floor general. He has a high IQ for his age and he shows it on the floor. His quickness and ability to see the floor are a threat in so many ways. He has so much potential when he gets to high school.
Strengths/Improvements to be made?
Strengths: Solid point guards that can penetrate and score or create for teammates. High energy level, always competitive.
Improvements: Without a true center on the court, we are constantly working with players on rebounding. Scoring in transition and not letting defense setup.
Biggest stock riser/most improved?
Braylon Horne – confidence in the ability to score around the rim, increased aggressiveness
Who creates the flow on and off the floor?
Evan LeDoux hands down. He’s my floor general.
What is expected for next summer? The same plan of attack?
Come back bigger, stronger, faster, and more competitive.
Prep Hoops is excited to watch the growth of these Class of 2027 athletes who competed extremely hard and well over the 2022 season!
