Next Level Grind 2027 came into the Prep Hoops Next circuit ready and hungry for more. A skilled group that was ready to face some of the top programs in the nation. A team that relied heavily on their perimeter play – there were not many teams that could consistently hit shots from beyond the arc as Next Level Grind did.

This group includes standout prospects Logan Ramczyk and Donovan Davis. Both of which the Coach noted are leaders and create the overall flow for this squad. “They are the most vocal on the floor helping teammates and assisting defensively.”

Below is the latest team roster and a few notes on what each player brought to the squad this summer.

Will Verkuilen

Will is a combo guard who can score at all 3 levels. Will finds success on both sides of the ball. His ability to create his shots allows him to create easy plays for those around him. He takes the challenge of guarding the other team’s best player and does a great job doing it. Over the season he must continue to become more vocal as he will have the ball in his hands often.

Cal Calhoon

Point Guard who can get into the seams and create plays for his teammates. He hits open shots consistently and passes at a very high level. Cal has the best on-ball defense on the team. His quickness also allows him to get in passing lanes intercepting a ton of passes. Cal has to start shooting more mid-range jumpers as he has the skill to create space, but his size sometimes makes it hard to finish at the rim.

Donovan Davis

Donovan is a kid who can play 2-5 and find success on both sides of the ball. At 6’4 he sees the floor very well, he can rebound and push and make the right decision. His length allows him to be a force defensively blocking shots and getting in passing lanes. Over the season Donovan needs to continue to separate himself by dominating his competition early in the game.

Logan Ramczyk

Logan is a kid who is in attack mode from start to finish. His greatest attribute is his confidence and attitude. He is just good at everything. He stands 6ft tall, so he overpowers smaller guards.  He is not afraid to be physical and he has a very quick first step. Over the season Logan will improve his ability to create for others by playing with his head on the swivel a bit more.

Kaden Vandenberg

Kaden is a player who has yet to blossom. He has a very high skill set and IQ. He scores at all 3 levels and defends positions 1-5 without any hesitation. Kaden stands about 6ft tall and has a nice size; he finishes with either hand and is all about the team, passing up his good shot for a great one. Over the season Kaden will continue to blossom and be more aggressive offensively with the ball. Kaden has tremendous upside and as he continues to believe in himself, he will flourish.

Matthias Charles

Matthias is tough, he is a kid who doesn’t mind getting physical. He has great moves to the basket and finishes well. Mathias takes pride in his defense moving his feet and not allowing his opponent to get a step on him. He runs the floor very well and can score in transition with the best of them. Matthias over the season will continue to approve his shot and assert himself offensively.

Tayden Wilke

Tayden is a combo guard who puts the ball in the basket. His bag of moves is unmet and often surprising as he breaks his defender down and finishes over bigger players. He scores the basketball at a high clip and honestly just has a level of confidence in his ability that you need to be successful. Over the season Tayden will work on improving his foot speed defensively picking players up full court.

Alex Krause

Alex is new to our team but fits a tremendous need, his ability to run the floor and make shots in transitions is going to be huge. Alex allows us to play up-tempo offensively and apply pressure defensively. Alex over the season will work to find his rhythm with a new group.

Certainly, a team that will continue to grow and develop together. Prep Hoops NEXT scouts are excited about this program! The athleticism and IQ are there – The coach emphasized implementing more inside play and versatility that could push their team to the next level in their development as prospects. Prep Hoops Next dove deeper into Next Level Grind 2027 [Q&A with Coach] and their experience on the Prep Hoops NEXT circuit and what’s to come for these prospects.

How do you feel your program competed throughout?

Our performance last season was solid, we lost some tough ones, and we won some tough ones. We must get back to the gym and make shots as we rely on the 3 balls pretty heavy. The boys will get to the rim this season as they have all grown physically and they know what needs to happen if we want to reach our ultimate goal.

Which Prep Hoops Next event do you remember most?

The Prep Hoop National Championship was very memorable because of the venue, the excitement, and the competition.  We went 4-1 against some extremely talented teams.  It made us reevaluate ourselves as a team and figure out what we needed to work on.  Our game against D1 Minnesota at the Battle of the Lakes sticks out because we lost to them earlier and we played tough until the end ultimately making it to the Championship. They were a very skilled team and we had to come together as a team to get the win.

What is expected for next summer? Who will return? The same plan of attack?

Our team looks a little bit different this year, but we have the same goals and focus.  We are already in the gym working on our shots and fundamentals, even doing some fall/winter tournaments together to get the team prepped for next season.

Prep Hoops NEXT is excited to watch the growth of these athletes who made their names known over the 2022 season!
