Minneapolis Central is a program that is new to the circuit but had a great first impression on me in recent events. Based out of Minneapolis, they have pulled together a competitive roster for the 2027 class. I am very excited to see them show and prove in July at Prep Hoops Next Nationals in Kansas City. This fast growing program is coached by Brian Hollowell. I was able to catch up with him to get more info on his squad. This is what he had to say.

What are your thoughts on how your team has competed thus far in circuit season? How have you prepared?

I thought my team played well for their first prep hoops tournament. I was impressed with my team. I’ve had my group of kids since third grade. I’ve always coached them to be prepared for the next year. They’ve played a grade higher in a lot of tournaments to get them used to winning against older kids.

Which Prep Hoops Next event are you looking forward to most and why?

Prep Hoops Next National Championship June 30- July 2 Kansas City, MO. We’re looking forward to see how my team competes against top level kids their age.

What are your team strengths and areas that could use improvements?  My teams strength are ball movement off the ball, we’re a high intensity team that loves to get out in transition, and having a good IQ for a 2027 team. My team can improve on defense transitioning, protecting the basket, and making defensive plays.

Roster/Player Breakdown

Please send a full roster and give a sentence or two on what each player brings to your team.

#3 – Akeem Everett

#2 -Jaden Hollowell

#5 -Myshawn Washington

#11 -Timothy Holmes

#8 -Dion James

#1 -Joffrey Wilson

#4 -Quincy Daniels

#0 -Oscar Mondragon

#7 -Wyatt Webster

#10 -Gideon Horne

Our team is equally matched with the skill of passing, shooting, scoring inside the paint, and playing intensive defense. My team is unselfish and smart. Every kid on my team is able to score as well as stop players from scoring.

How does your roster stack up against last season’s roster? Any major changes?

I added Deion James, Gideon Horne, and Akeem Everett on our roster. Last season we need height we added 6’5 Deion James, and 6’3 Gideon they’ve improved our skill level on the court. We added a true point guard Akeem Everett he has helped get players open shots, he scores when he needs to, and brings alot of IQ to my team.

What facet of the game do you want to improve on most going into next season?

The way my team approaches the game mentally before games and during the game. Self Discipline, emotional intelligence, and handling adversity in the mist of games.

Who are your best returning players? Who are your best additions, if any?

Myshawn Washington, Deion James, Gideon Horne are our best returning players. Akeem & Wyatt are our best additions to the team.
